Motherhood can sometimes feel a far cry from “flourishing”, and more like you’re floundering, flagging, falling short of the so-called motherhood mark.

You know the vibes. Nappies piled against the door, remnants of dinner still stuck to the highchair, a quick (read: long, so long) round of negotiations with your threenager over which colour top to wear, and the heart-sinking reality that it’s only 9:03am and you still have an entire day to juggle all your sticky, slightly crusty Mama hats. Hats that can fit snug and look chic and sexy and fun, but sometimes look worn and wonky and feel all uncomfortable and in-your-face (like the Meals Mama hat, or the Soft Play Mama hat or the All-I-Do-Is-Wash-Clothes Mama hat).

Do you think there’s a different way?

Is there a way to flourish in this season? To feel alive and connected to God, to feel passionate and balanced and healthy and strong and to feel like your life, your journey, your story actually makes a difference in and beyond the four corners of your crayon-covered walls?

I’ve often wondered, if we could hear God audibly, what He’d say He wants for the #mumlife. What picture would He paint for us? What would He envision for our child-raising season? A time of fear and failure, loneliness and lack? Or one of connection and life and passion and purpose?

I’m convinced – more than ever before –  that God’s desire is that we flourish in such a breath-taking, beauty-laden way that we become real-life displays of His kindness, capacity, goodness and grace.

He wants us to flourish. To thrive. To burst with expectation in the everyday. He wants us to flourish as women and wives, friends and sisters. He wants us to flourish in motherhood.

Flourish is our MOM theme for the year.

And our endeavour through our words and photography and images of everyday Mamas wearing flower crowns, nestled amongst wild greenery – is that we paint a picture of the God life; the green life. A life that is lush and nourished and life-giving. A life that is flourishing.

“For as the earth bursts with spring wildflowers, and as a garden cascades with blossoms, so the Master, God, brings righteousness into full bloom” Isaiah 61 MSG

The definition of flourish is to grow healthily and vigorously; to thrive and bloom because of optimum conditions and a favourable environment.

And honestly? By the grace of God, MOM’s mission is to be that favourable environment.

To be a safe place where girls become sisters and cheerleaders who thrive and bloom and blossom – gathered for some belly-aching fun, equipped to be full of faith, mobilised – together, as a team and tribe – for the freedom and value of those who so desperately need it.

To flourish we need to be planted. And as mothers it can feel like our place of planting is in the playground, amongst the washing piles and dirty dishes or in the arm chair for the thousandth feed of the day.

MOM is a sisterhood where you, Mama, belong. It’s a place to be nestled.

We pray MOM is a place where God can unveil His heart and plant the kiss of Heaven on your precious, sometimes weary, worn-out soul.  A place that will nurture the gold within, helping us to really, truly become a sisterhood of mums on mission for fun, faith and freedom. Girls flourishing in our everyday lives, doing whatever we can to simply help change our world and the world.

So, as we launch MOM – online and locally – and delve into our flourish theme for the year, we’re committed to do our best to help facilitate His heart and unpack helpful resources, revelations and host some good old real-talk to help us all, well you know – flourish.

It’s time to get involved, Mama.

“The righteous will flourish like the date palm [long-lived, upright and useful];
They will grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic and stable].

Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.

[Growing in grace] they will still thrive and bear fruit and prosper in old age;
They will flourish and be vital and fresh [rich in trust and love and contentment];

[They are living memorials] to declare that the Lord is upright and faithful [to His promises];
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.” Psalm 92: 12-15 (AMP)
